About MyJay.
MyJay is free static site hosting for people who want a small place on the
web that's theirs. You get a subdomain (username.myjay.net)
and a place to put HTML, CSS, JS, and a few images. That's it.
There's no editor magic, no themes, no templates. You bring the files, we serve them. There's no database for your site's content and no content management layer in the way. Your files are your site.
It's not everything.
Not a website builder
No drag-and-drop editor. You write the HTML.
Not a CMS
No server-side code runs on your site. Static files only.
Not a database host
username.myjay.net serves files. Bring data as JSON if you need it.
Not a tracker
No visitor tracking. No data to sell. No analytics on your pages.
The limits.
| Limit | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Storage | 50 MB | per account, total |
| Upload per request | 25 MB | a hard ceiling on the current platform |
| Sites per account | 1 | Phase 2 may add multiple sites |
| File types | html, css, js, jpg, png, gif, webp, svg, ico, txt, md, json, xml, woff, woff2, ttf | executables rejected |
| Server-side code | None | static files only |
| Custom domains | Not yet | planned for Phase 2 |
50MB is small on purpose. This is for text, a handful of images, maybe a font or two. If you need more, you probably want a real host, and that's fine, this isn't trying to be that.
The ethos.
The old web was messy, personal, and occasionally ugly, and that was good. MyJay is for that version of the internet, back when a hand-coded "under construction" GIF was a better home for a website than a profile on someone else's platform.
No algorithm decides who sees your page. No analytics script reports back on who's looking. No ads, here or on your site. There's no VC money behind this, so there's no pressure to monetize you either.
About the search engine.
MyJay Search indexes public pages from three places: MyJay itself, Neocities, and Nekoweb. It's built to find personal sites, not to win at SEO, there's no ranking algorithm tuned to keep you scrolling. Results rank by how much of your search a page actually covers first, then by relevance as a tiebreaker, see how ranking works for the full explanation.
Every MyJay site is indexed by default once it's published, you can turn that off per-site
from the dashboard's Settings tab. Sites on Neocities and Nekoweb get indexed by crawling
their public pages, the same way any search engine does, and robots.txt is
always respected first, before a single page is fetched. We don't store anything that isn't
needed to show a result (no personal data is pulled out of a crawled page), and we don't
track which result you click.
Don't want your site indexed, or want to suggest one? Use Search's submit and removal links, or read how indexing actually works for the full detail, including exactly how to opt out for good.
One person, not a company.
MyJay is built and run by Jaypix. No team, no support tiers, no ticket queue. If something breaks, say so and it gets fixed by the same person who broke it in the first place. More work at jaypix.dev.
Dev log.
Rough order, no promises on timing.
- done v0.1.0-alpha: accounts, dashboard, file manager, code editor, publishing
- done MyJay Search: indexes MyJay, Neocities, and Nekoweb
- next blog tool: a simple posts list and RSS feed, still static files under the hood
- next guestbook: leave a note on someone's site, the old-fashioned way
- later microblog: short posts, your own little timeline
- later custom domains: point your own .com at your myjay site
- later pro plan: more storage, for people who outgrow 50MB
- maybe indie ad network: opt-in, between sites only, never forced
Your site is waiting.
