Terms.
The short version: don't host anything illegal or harmful, your files stay yours, this is a free hobby-scale service with no uptime promises. The long version is below, and it's still pretty short.
Your account.
- One account and one site per person, for now. Don't create multiple accounts to get around storage limits.
- Keep your password reasonably secure. You're responsible for activity under your account.
- Your subdomain (
username.myjay.net) is yours as long as your account exists and stays in good standing. Reserved names (www, api, admin, etc.) can't be claimed.
Acceptable use.
Your published site may not contain or link to:
- Illegal content under applicable law.
- Malware, phishing pages, or anything designed to compromise visitors' devices or accounts.
- Content that impersonates another person or organization in a misleading way.
- Spam, mass-unsolicited content, or link farms.
- Content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights.
Everything else (personal sites, art, writing, weird experiments, fan pages, "under construction" GIFs forever) is exactly what this platform is for.
Limits.
Your content, your responsibility.
You retain ownership of whatever you upload. By publishing a site,
you give MyJay the (obvious, necessary) permission to store and
serve those files to anyone who visits
username.myjay.net, that's the whole point. You're
responsible for having the rights to anything you upload.
Enforcement.
If a site violates the acceptable-use section above, an admin may unpublish it, remove the offending files, or, for repeated or serious violations, ban or delete the account, without advance notice. This is a small free service run without a legal team; enforcement is "best judgment," not a formal process with appeals.
Availability.
MyJay is provided free, "as is," with no uptime guarantee. It may go into maintenance mode for updates, or be unavailable due to upstream Cloudflare issues. Don't build anything mission-critical on top of it. Back up anything you can't afford to lose, you have full access to your files for exactly that reason.
Changes.
These terms may change as the platform grows past Phase 1. Meaningful changes will be mentioned in the announcement banner and dev log. Continuing to use MyJay after a change means you accept the updated terms.
